About the Workshop

Join the DC History Center for a collaborative workshop on Wednesday, July 20th from 10am-3pm! This is an exclusive opportunity for 3rd-12th grade DC teachers to pilot newly created field trip activities and resources.

Participants will learn how to access the DC History Center collection, analyze primary resources, and engage in hands-on activities that can be translated to the classroom.

Specific topics to be covered in the workshop include teaching about the evolution of DC neighborhoods, the fight for statehood, the history of local voting rights, and the Compensated Emancipation Act.

Stipends ($100) will be given to teachers for their feedback at the completion of the workshop and upon receipt of required paperwork.

Lunch will be provided.

Space is limited; registration is required. Registration will close when capacity is reached or by July 15th.
