Filmfest DC Turns 40!
40 Years ∙ 3,620 Films ∙ 144 Countries ∙ One Amazing Festival
Washington, DC's largest and longest-running international film festival celebrates four decades of global cinema.
Teaching for Change is partnering with Filmfest DC: The Washington, D.C. International Film Festival (April 16–26, 2026) for a 15th year to promote the festival and bring films and filmmakers into D.C. classrooms.
Filmfest DC features many films that we highly recommend related to education, immigration, and social justice. Here are a few examples.
Reading the World is about educator Paulo Freire and the literacy campaign in Brazil.
Everybody to Kenmure Street is the true story of a Glasgow neighborhood that blocked the deportation of two Sikh men. A brave and uplifting collaboration across ages, ethnicity, and religion.
People vs. Politics shows how local activists across the country are organizing ballot initiatives for voting rights, including Anacostia resident Lisa Rice.
