About this workshop

Hurston/Wright Foundation’s 2023 Writer-in-Residence, B. Sharise Moore, facilitates a virtual workshop for parents and educators, introducing children’s books and YA books and corresponding curriculum activities. This workshop is intended for parents and educators interested in building engaging literacy learning experiences with books by Black authors that center the experiences of people of African descent.

The virtual workshop takes place June 26-29.

On June 30, B. Sharise Moore will host an in-person session for workshop participants at Howard University where workshop participants will have the opportunity to share in-person the projects that they or their students have worked on over the course of the workshop week.

Each workshop day facilitated by B. Sharise will be recorded and a link shared with those registered for the conference.

Lunch will be provided on June 30 for registered participants.
