An interactive Banned Books Week experience centering college voices, representation, literacy, and the stories that shape our communities.
BRIDGE the District invites you to join us for The Fine Print: A Banned Books Week Experience, a week of conversations, community, and interactive programming centered on books, representation, education, censorship, and who gets to shape the stories we read.
Banned Books Week is about more than a list of challenged books. It is an opportunity to think about whose stories are protected, whose stories are questioned, and what access to books means for young people and our communities.
Throughout the week, BRIDGE will bring together college students, young people, educators, community organizations, and storytellers across DC for programming designed to make these conversations feel engaging, relevant, and accessible.
What to expect:
Honest, interactive conversations about banned books and representation
Youth and student voices at the center of the discussion
Activities, games, and opportunities to share your own perspective
Food, refreshments, and community
Opportunities to connect with students and organizations from across DC
A welcoming space where you do not need to be an expert or prepare anything beforehand
Come ready to listen, question, participate, and read between the lines.
Because when you look closely, there is always more to the story.
