Established in 2017, Our Words Our City is a unique showcase of DC SCORES talented poet-athletes and alumni and their original, expressive pieces of poetry.

Many of the performers are Shine Award recipients, which is awarded at the annual DC SCORES Poetry Slam to the poet-athletes that demonstrates the most confidence and delivers the best individual performance. Professional spoken-word artists from the region work alongside the kids for weeks to perfect their craft for this special evening.

This exciting, moving, fun and inspiring evening includes a reception before and after the performances.
