Freedom Isn’t Free Intergenerational Panel

Join Rising Organizers for the final event of their DC Summer of Freedom Campaign. They'll begin with a free guided tour of the Frederick Douglass House (10:30 AM – 12:00 PM), followed by their panel "Freedom Isn't Free: Social Movements and the Fight for a Free and Fair Democracy" 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM (Doors open at 12:00 PM, they'll have free food!), an intergenerational conversation featuring movement leaders and organizers exploring the role organizing has played in shaping American democracy, the current state of organizing in America, and offering hopes and recommendations for the future of organizing.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of their own role in advancing democratic change and collective power.

The panel features:

  • Judy Richardson, Civil Rights Activist, Former SNCC member and SNCC Legacy Project Board Member

  • Bill Fletcher Jr., Labor Activist and Writer

  • Aaron Booe, Community Organizer at Rising Organizers
