From desegregation to the fight for statehood, DC’s history of educational justice reveals both the promise and the persistence of community power. “Class Action: Education and Opportunity in the Nation’s Capital” is a new exhibit at the DC History Center which explores stories from Black students and families throughout DC’s history that resonate with today’s struggles for equitable schools, youth power, and self-determination.

Join this tour guided tour for the Free DC community to learn lessons from student organizers, educators, and community leaders who worked to reimagine education throughout DC’s history.

Whether you’re a student, teacher, organizer, or ally, this is a space to build relationships, learn from the past, and imagine what educational freedom could look like for DC’s next generation.
