The NMAAHC Early Childhood Education Initiative is excited to host a Family Day on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00am-2:00pm inspired by the Museum’s first children’s book, A is for All the Things You Are: A Joyful ABC Book, written by Anna Forgerson Hindley and illustrated by Keturah A. Bobo.
Activities will include:
“All the Things I Am!” Art-Making
Location: NMAAHC Classrooms (2nd floor)
Drop-in activity from 11:00am-2:00pm
NMAAHC Educators will lead an art-making activity that allows young children to explore their own identity and share what makes them unique.
NMAAHC Story Time
Location: NMAAHC Library (2nd Floor)
Come celebrate all the things that make you special by joining us for an interactive and empowering story time! Story Time will be offered at 11:30am, 12:30pm, and 1:30pm and last approximately 20 minutes. A new book will be read at each story time.
Registration is encouraged. The National Museum of African American History and Culture welcomes all children and their adults to participate in early childhood programs and discover joy in human diversity and themselves. Strollers are permitted throughout the museum, and all activity spaces are ADA-accessible. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be offered during story time and throughout Family Day. Activities have been designed to reach learners 0-8 years, but all ages are welcome!
